The European policy of Ioannis Kapodistrias: His views and proposals for a more progressive status of affairs in Europe from 1813 to 1821.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the presence of Ioannis Kapodistrias  inSwitzerland  (1814-2014), the Greek Presidency of the Council of EU is organizing a conference on: The European policy of Ioannis Kapodistrias: His views and proposals for a more progressive status of affairs in Europe from 1813 to 1821”. It is organized in cooperation with the scientific association for the study of Ioannis Kapodistrias’ work, which is a NGO based in Athens, founded in 2010, with the scope to make the work of this great diplomat and politician known both in Greece and abroad. The speakers will elaborate on the multidimensional European policy of  Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first Governor of the Greek independent State (1827-1831) and former Foreign Minister of the Imperial Russia. They will also emphasize his activity towards the consolidation of the Swiss independence and neutrality and his efforts for the unity ofEurope.
